Preparation
of Boots Prior to Use
On purchase of boots we recommend that these be worn
around the house to ensure that they fit correctly and
help mould them to your feet.
All leather and nubuck boots should be treated a couple
of times with Snoseal, Nikwax or a similar product before
use. Allow 48 – 72 hours between treatments to
allow the waterproofer to soak into the leather.
Peglers Boot Care
Are leather boots waterproof? There are many misconceptions
about this. Without a specific waterproof membrane,
no leather boot can be guaranteed to be waterproof.
Waterproofness can be significantly improved by regular
maintenance. Waterproofing and conditioning are essential
as, during use, leather boots are subjected to fairly
extreme conditions. (Especially wet). This will cause
progressive loss of tanning ingredients from the leather,
resulting in drying out, loss of water repellency and
ultimately cracking of the leather and uncomfortable
feet.
