All about me!!

Having been involved with both Scouts and the Air Training Corps from an early age I have always loved getting outside either climbing, kayaking, walking or cycling (either road or off road). The Scouts really started my love of adventurous activities. Camping abroad in Holland, Belgium, and Austria to try a wide range of activities such as climbing and gliding.

I was in the ATC for just over nine years and was Fortunate enough to visit a number of RAF stations, (many now closed), Fly numerous training aircraft and get my gliding scholarship wings. Through the ATC I also furthered my kayaking, starting with my one star certificate and  eventually achieving my three star and canoe safety test. I have, since leaving done my four star training on a white water trip along the river Dart.

I thoroughly enjoy winter conditions and as well as mountain biking on the South Downs in the Snow, I love Snowboarding in France whenever I get the chance. With a young family most of my 'expedition' now involve a child carrier and the South Downs.

I have travelled and walked in a fair number of European countries. My most recent endevour was to Peru, to see the ancient Inca Sites. The four day walk along the famous Inca Trail was a particular highlight.

On a weekly basis I ride either MTB or road with my friends. The best part, (but most painful) is during winter when I use my single speed MTB around the mud clogged trails and come home looking like a swamp monster but feeling great!! I also ride several times a year with the Retro bike club.

In the near future I intend to compete in more road bike time trials and hopefully get some more time on the southern sandstone or down at Swanage doing some lead climbing.
