Loading... Please wait..."I have been climbing in the Alps since 1988 and have constantly been mixing adventure with climbing. My travels have taken me bouldering in Morocco, big walling in Yosemite, rafting in Zambia and cragging around Europe, along the way I've fitted in some adventure cycle touring in Morocco, Egypt and 6000km between Kenya & South Africa and travelled in Mexico & Central America. Kayaking and Canoeing are shoehorned in between feeding, pigs, chickens, turkeys, lambs beekeeping and my dogs.
It's ice-fall climbing however, that has dominated my interest since 1992, visiting the Canadian Rockies, Colorado, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and of course France. Not surprisingly, being on the south coast with this interest the chalk caught my eye (21 years ago) and I've been new routing ever since; more recently pioneering the sport chalk around Saltdeans Pleasuredome which proved itself as a superb training venue for the first Ice-climbing World Cup which I competed in with Tim Emmet, Neil Gresham and Mark Garthwaite in 2001. There is no finer place to train for modern mixed climbing than the local chalk cliffs. I was a regular gear reviewer for 'On The Edge' magazine as well as contributor with numerous articles focusing on ice-falls and chalk climbing, alongside this I wrote the section on sportchalk for the CC guide to climbing in SE England.
Climbing however, isn't my whole life, having fun ranks higher as do eating and drinking! And I musn't forget my wife Pip and my children Lotte and William."
