Reports back from Richard in the French Alps are exciting ! Almost all the routes at Alpe d'Huez have been climbed and are in perfect condition. Near to La Grave, routes such as La Colere du ciel are also in good condition. There has been no snow, and none is forecast for the rest of the week, and temperatures are in that perfect 'freeze - thaw' zone to consolidate the snow that fell in the previous week. The avalanche prone Vallon du Diable is at the moment just that, and routes on the south side have been falling down. Further down the valley near the tunnels, the routes Les Moulins and the more amenable Caturgeas are forming and certainly offer good climbing on the lower pitches.
