Sandstone - SE England
|
| Welcome to the rolling hills of the Weald, situated at the joining of Kent and East Sussex. This area is quiet, farm land with lovely rustic country pubs and old oast houses. The whole area is nicely wooded, and here you will find a very good selection of small sandstone outcrops of all different types and sizes. There are no huge mountains, or terrific giant struggles against the elements to be had, but the short 20-25 foot cliffs give wonderful sporting pleasure to those who are willing to give it a go. If you are used to top roping at an indoor climbing gym, then you will be quite at home here since this is the normal practice. Please click here * for our page on useful tips of equipment to bring, and a general code of conduct and useful information for first time visitors. It's a really fun place to go climbing. If you've only got the afternoon - have a trip out; if you can make it a weekend, you will have a really good time. We obviously reccomend that you get our highly illustrative guidebook before you visit, since it has masses of information (336 pages in full colour), and all the specific details on how to find and enjoy each crag. If you do not have time to get the guidebook beforehand, then you can most probably get it locally at the Junction pub or local village shop in Groombridge, or at the Huntsman Pub at Eridge, or the High Rocks Inn. (Groombridge is the main little village a few miles West of Tunbridge Wells. |
