| Metolius Crash Pads protect climbers when starting tricky sport climbs or falling off of boulders. When bouldering it's nice to know that you have three inches of protective foam below you and even better to know that the engineers at Metolius designed the best possible landing zone. Using a combination of open and closed-cell foam they created a crash pad which absorbs as much energy as possible. The open cell foam is a great shock absorber, but by itself it takes a very thick piece to keep from bottoming out. By adding a layer of firmer, closed-cell foam on top, the force is spread out, producing a firm shock absorber and comfortable landing |
